Big Boy Drivers Seat Modification for 1943 MB Willys Jeep

Another way to get more leg room in GPW & MB Jeeps

I really hated to start chopping the rig up to get more leg room, but it was necessary to do something. After doing some thinking I came up with this idea as the least invasive way of moving the seat back. The only thing chopped is the seat frame and that is easily replaced if another person wanted to put it back stock.     "Bubbaed" ???... maybe, but I now fit behind the steering wheel and can also get my feet on the pedals.

Cut out lower cross tube to make room for seat moving back. I fitted a piece of flat bar to put in place of it.

Next... Make tube extensions for both support tubes. I put solid bar inside mine for strength.

Next... Cut & fit a short piece of angle iron and weld to back side of upright tube.

This picture shows the new clearance with the cross tube removed and the seat shoved back all the way.

This mod worked for me. Just another idea on the web.
