Austin Reid's Jeep Page
Austin got the original Jeep from his Grandpa Don. It was a 1971 CJ5 that Don used to drive. It had no engine or Transmission/Transfer Case. Austin tore the Jeep clear down to the frame and started over.
Austin & his Dad decided to use another frame from a 1975 Jeep. He widened the frame from 27" OD to 32" OD. (this gets the frame out near the roll-bar mounts & makes more room in the motor compartment for exhaust & steering) He also boxed & strapped this frame from bumper to bumper.
He used Jeep Wagoneer housings front and rear.
The springs are Chevy Blazer front leaf springs. He made new perches & shackles.
The motor is a Chevy V6 4.3 CC (262 Cubic inch) that he will change to Carburetor.
Transmission is SM465 Transfer case is a model 20
Austin made new bumpers front & rear.
Austin has done all the welding and other work on this rebuild. He even set up the front end ring & pinion just with supervision from his Dad & "Pa".
